Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with FOLIO during Shakespeare in Sutton – FOLIO’s fun festival for all, in April this year.

We have a variety of volunteer roles available including:

Stewarding at festival events in April. We’d ask for a minimum of 3 hours of your time, to help us with our timetabling. We’ll be looking for stewards on the following days:
Saturday 9 April (late morning / midday, and middle of the afternoon)
Wednesday 20 April – afternoon
Saturday 23 April (this is our busiest day and we will need a lot of stewards on this day, from 8am to 6pm).
Saturday 30 April – afternoon
Stewarding at any of the above dates might involve looking after artists, setting up spaces, gathering feedback, directing the public and helping them find what they’re looking for, welcoming members of the public, checking tickets, helping with family crafts. Some of the stewarding is indoors, and some of it outdoors. If you offer to act as a volunteer steward we will endeavour to ensure you can volunteer in the role that appeals most to you, where possible.

If stewarding is not for you, or you are looking for other ways you can get involved here are some other options:

Leaflet/programme distribution (late March / early Apr). This involves taking as many or as few leaflets as you wish and delivering them by hand to one or more streets in Sutton. We’ll endeavour to give you streets where you want to deliver, as long as another volunteer has not already offered to cover that given area

Schools Ambassador for our writing competition (now till mid March). We have a writing competition currently open aimed primarily at primary schools: Volunteer schools ambassadors would be people who have good links to a given primary school/s and would take responsibility for contacting the head or literacy lead with details of the competition to encourage school participation (the school can win £125 worth of books)

Helping with social media before and during the festival – tweeting and sharing photos on Twitter and Facebook on April 23 in particular, but also in advance (in which case we would provide (some) content and the volunteer would just need to schedule the content.)

Capturing video footage at each event especially April 23. We are looking for a volunteer with film experience to do the actual filming and also, ideally, the editing.

Event photographer, especially on April 23, but very useful on other event days too. This role could be shared between a 2 or 3 volunteers. You don’t need to be an expert photographer, just willing to snap away, and share your photos with us soon after any event where you are taking photos.

We can cover travel expenses if this would help facilitate your volunteering, and we’ll do all we can to make sure your experience of volunteering with us is a really positive and enjoyable one.

Please get in touch by emailing Zoe on if you’d like to join an amazing team delivering a wonderful range of activities and events to enrich our local community.
